Huzoor Palace (Exterior View)

About this place

Huzoor Palace is a grand seafront palace built in European style, facing the Arabian Sea at the western end of Porbandar. With long colonnaded verandas, balconies, sloping roofs and manicured lawns, it looks more like a Mediterranean villa than a typical Indian palace. The building is still the private residence of the former royal family and is not open to visitors, but its exterior can be admired from a distance, especially from the road and nearby beach stretch. For Ghoomein, you can mark it clearly as a photo-stop from outside only, adding variety to Porbandar’s otherwise temple-and-museum heavy list.

History & highlights

Huzoor Palace was constructed in the early 20th century for the rulers of the Porbandar State, reflecting the then trend among Kathiawar princes to build seaside palaces in European styles. After Independence and the merger of princely states into India, the property remained with the former royal family. While the interiors are not accessible to the public, Huzoor Palace continues to be a city landmark and is often featured in travel photos and heritage discussions about Porbandar’s princely past.
