History & highlights
Originally Victoria Terminus, designed by F.W. Stevens in Indo-Saracenic / Victorian Gothic style. Construction started in 1878 and finished around 1887, marking Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee. It replaced the old Bori Bunder station and became the symbolic heart of India’s rail system. Renamed CSMT and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004 for its outstanding 19th-century railway architecture.
