In the evening, coloured lighting, musical fountains and street food stalls give it a festive atmosphere, while sunsets over the water attract families, couples and students. About this place
History & highlights
Futala Lake is believed to be about 200 years old, developed during the time of the Bhosale rulers of Nagpur as part of irrigation and water-supply works. Over time, urbanisation and neglect led to pollution and encroachments, but in recent decades the state government and local bodies undertook beautification, adding lighting, fountains and promenades. The lake has thus moved from a functional water body to a flagship leisure-development project for modern Nagpur.
