Japanese Garden (Sector 31)

About this place

Japanese Garden.A beautifully laid-out park with Japanese-style pagoda towers, arched bridges, koi-pond-like water bodies, rock features, Buddha statue, meditation corner and landscaped lawns. It’s lit up attractively in the evening and is a peaceful spot for families and couples within the urban grid.

History & highlights

Built in two phases on about 13 acres in Sector 31 and inaugurated in 2014 (Phase 1) and 2016 (Phase 2), the Japanese Garden was developed by the UT administration as Chandigarh’s first explicitly Japanese-style park. Both phases are connected by a painted tunnel. It adds an international, themed dimension to the city’s already rich garden collection.
