Bahu Fort & Bagh-e-Bahu.Overlooking the Tawi River, Bahu Fort is an ancient hilltop fortification housing the Bawe Wali Mata (Kali) temple. Below the fort lies Bagh-e-Bahu, a terraced garden and park with fountains and viewpoints, popular for picnics and sunsets over Jammu city.

History & highlights

The core of Bahu Fort is believed to date back many centuries, with early foundations often attributed to local Dogra chiefs, and later rebuilt by Dogra rulers in the 18th–19th centuries as Jammu grew in importance. The Kali shrine inside became a guardian temple of the city. The modern gardens and aquarium at Bagh-e-Bahu are post-Independence additions, converting the fort hill into both a heritage and leisure zone.
