About this place
History & highlights
The natural spring was monumentalised by Emperor Jahangir, who loved Kashmir’s springs and ordered the octagonal stone tank and garden to be built in the early 17th century. It became one of the first Mughal stops while entering the valley from the south and still marks the symbolic beginning of the Jhelum.
