City Parks And Nature Spots: Chambal Garden, CV Garden etc.

About this place

City Parks A part from the big riverfront, Kota has several green pockets that give relief from its dense coaching-city traffic. Chambal Garden on the riverbank offers lawns, shady trees and boating; CV Garden (Colonel Venkatraman Garden) and smaller neighbourhood parks provide walking tracks and children’s play areas. For visitors doing a longer stay (for example with students), these gardens make everyday relaxation spots, contrasting with the intense study environment of the coaching corridors.

History & highlights

Many of these gardens date from the post-Independence period, especially the 1960s–80s, when planned neighbourhoods and public parks were built alongside hydraulic projects like Kota Barrage and industrial/township development. Chambal Garden’s history is closely tied to the changing river landscape after the barrage raised water levels and stabilised flow. Recent tourism itineraries now formally include these parks as stops—morning walks or evening boating—in multi-day Kota sightseeing plans.
