Raj Ghat is a solemn and significant memorial dedicated to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Situated on the banks of the Yamuna River, this serene spot is where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated following his assassination in 1948.The memorial consists of a simple black marble platform surrounded by lush green lawns and gardens. The words “Hey Ram” (Oh God) are inscribed on the platform, which is believed to be Gandhi’s last words. A perpetual flame burns at one end of the platform, symbolizing the eternal presence of the great leader.Raj Ghat is not only a place of remembrance but also a center for reflection and introspection. Visitors from all over the world pay their respects and offer floral tributes to Gandhi’s memory.The tranquil ambiance of Raj Ghat provides a respite from the city’s chaos, offering visitors a moment of solitude and contemplation.
