About this place
History & highlights
The foundation stone was laid in 1874 and it was consecrated in 1877, making it one of Shillong’s oldest major church institutions. Historical accounts also note damage around the period of the 1897 earthquake, followed by later rebuilding/continuity. The church reflects Shillong’s colonial-era administrative growth and the spread of Christian institutions in the hills.
