Gurdwara Dukhniwaran SahibA major Sikh shrine in the south-central part of Ludhiana, Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib has a large white complex with domes, a sarovar and a spacious diwan hall. Devotees come from across the region to listen to kirtan, take a dip in the sarovar and participate in langar, believing that Ardas performed here helps in “nivaran” (removal) of difficulties. It’s one of the most important spiritual landmarks of the city and a key stop for religious tourists.
About this place
History & highlights
The site is associated in Sikh tradition with a visit by Guru Tegh Bahadur, whose blessing is believed to have ended a local illness or “dukh” among the villagers, leading to the shrine’s name. Over the 20th century the local sangat developed a full gurdwara complex with sarovar, rest houses and facilities for large congregations. Today it functions both as a religious centre and a hub for social welfare and community events in Ludhiana.
