Jubilee Park is the green heart of Jamshedpur, a huge landscaped park with avenues, fountains, boating, rose gardens and a children’s area. Located near the city centre, it gives relaxing views of greenery and water, especially beautiful when illuminated at night. Locals come here for walks, cycling, picnics and annual celebrations, and visitors are often surprised to find such a large, well-planned urban garden in an industrial city.
About this place
History & highlights
The park was gifted to the citizens of Jamshedpur by the Tata Steel company and was laid out to mark the city’s 50 years (its “jubilee”), following the early 20th-century vision of Jamshedji Tata for a planned industrial city with good living conditions. Designed with inspiration from global city parks, it was created during the mid-1900s as part of Tata’s township planning. Over the decades, Jubilee Park has become symbolic of Jamshedpur itself—an example of corporate town planning, blending industry with quality public spaces.
