Kunduvada Kere Lake

About this place

Kunduvada Kere Lake is a large water body on the edge of Davanagere, popular for evening walks, jogging and sunsets. The promenade, lights and landscaped edges make it a relaxing urban open space. During festivals and holidays, families gather along the lakefront, giving the industrial–education town a leisure hub close to the city centre.

History & highlights

Davanagere rose as a cotton and textile trading centre in the 19th–20th centuries, later becoming a major city in central Karnataka. Kunduvada Lake, originally a water resource area, was gradually developed with better embankments, lighting and pathways as the city expanded. Its recent history is tied to urban planning efforts to provide recreational spaces, so it now symbolises Davanagere’s shift from purely business–industrial town to a more liveable urban centre.
