Nuranang Falls (Jang Falls)

About this place

Nuranang Falls is a striking curtain waterfall that drops about 100 meters, surrounded by forested slopes and mountain air. The viewpoint and the roaring water make it feel cinematic, and it’s a “must stop” for most travelers on the Tawang route because it’s easily accessible and extremely photogenic.

History & highlights

Sources connect the falls and the Nuranang River with the area’s 1962 war history and local stories, including the Battle of Nuranang and the narrative associated with a local Monpa girl (Nura/Noora). This gives the waterfall an identity that blends natural beauty with remembered history of the region.
