Poonch Fort and Noori Cham Waterfall Belt,Poonch town sits in a bowl-shaped valley with a large fort complex on a hill and scenic surroundings including rivers and waterfalls in the wider district. Perched on a hill above the town, Poonch Fort looks like a self-contained walled city. Long stone ramparts, arched gateways and layered courtyards spread across the ridge, with ruined halls and open terraces giving wide views of the valley and mountains. Inside you can imagine royal residences, parade grounds and storage yards, all built in local hill style. Today it feels part monument, part viewpoint – a quiet place to walk, photograph and sense the frontier character of the region and its layered history. Nestled in a narrow, green valley, Noori Cham (Noori Chhamb) is a tall, graceful waterfall dropping in white sheets over dark rock into clear, chilly pools. Mist, moss-covered boulders and overhanging trees keep the spot cool even in summer, and the sound of falling water echoes through the gorge. Small natural platforms act as viewpoints and photo spots, while local legends linking the falls with a Mughal queen add a romantic feel to this otherwise wild Himalayan corner for visitors and locals alike.
