Qutb Shahi Tombs

About this place

A serene garden-necropolis of domed mausoleums and smaller mosques, admired for Indo-Islamic design and the visual rhythm of arches, galleries, and domes. It’s one of Hyderabad’s most “quietly grand” heritage spaces—great for architecture lovers and slow walking.

History & highlights

Built mainly across the 16th–17th centuries for Qutb Shahi rulers, the complex later suffered damage and neglect; it saw major restoration efforts (including a large modern conservation project) that revived its landscape and structures. During the 1687 siege period, the grounds were even used militarily.
