Raghunath City Mall (RCM) is Almora’s main modern mall, centrally located on or near Mall Road in the Khatyari area. It is a small but well-planned shopping and entertainment complex, with multiple floors of branded clothing stores (such as Trends, Wildcraft and other fashion labels), Super 99-type value stores, a salon, kids’ and lifestyle outlets, as well as popular food chains like Domino’s, Baskin Robbins and waffle cafes. The mall is particularly famous for its rooftop parking and open terrace view over the town and surrounding hills, which gives it a unique hill-city feel compared to big-city enclosed malls. Inside, a cinema hall (RCM Cinema) and gaming / entertainment zone make it the primary place in Almora for watching new movies and spending an evening indoors.
About this place
History & highlights
Raghunath City Mall is described by local guides as the first development of its kind in Almora, built on about 1.25 acres as a mixed commercial project on the town’s Mall Road. Before it opened, shopping in Almora was largely confined to traditional bazaars like Lala Bazaar and smaller standalone shops; there was no air-conditioned complex bringing multiple national brands and a multiplex cinema under one roof. As hill tourism and local aspirations grew, developers created RCM to offer a more contemporary experience while still fitting the scale of a hill town. In a short time it has become a modern landmark—people now give directions by saying “near Raghunath City Mall,” and for young residents it symbolises Almora’s step into a new retail and leisure era while the old bazaars and temples preserve its heritage.
