Ruins of Kachari Rajbari

About this place

One of Dimapur’s most iconic heritage sites—rows of mushroom-domed stone pillars that feel mysterious and ancient. The ruins attract tourists because they look unusual and symbolic, sparking curiosity about a lost royal/ritual landscape. The open layout and distinctive pillars make it a strong photography spot and a key “history stop” for understanding Dimapur beyond modern city life.

History & highlights

The ruins are linked to the Kachari civilization/kingdom and are dated in historical narratives to around the 10th century onward, with structures associated with the medieval period (commonly referenced around the 13th century as well). Their purpose is not fully certain, adding to the site’s long-standing mystique.
