Pentagon Mall is one of the first full-scale modern malls of Uttarakhand, developed to serve the new industrial township of SIDCUL Haridwar as well as traditional Haridwar city. Project and directory data note it as a major mall-cum-multiplex, established around 2012, located on the SIDCUL / BHEL main road so that both industrial workers and tourists can reach easily. Before it opened, shopping in Haridwar was mostly in old markets like Bara Bazar, Kankhal and Jwalapur; there was no large air-conditioned complex where branded outlets, food court and cinema were all under one roof. With Pentagon Mall, Haridwar got its first “destination mall” – an attraction in itself in addition to the ghats and temples. Over the years, events like fashion shows, cultural programmes, festival décor and constant movie traffic at Wave Cinemas have made it a landmark of modern Haridwar, often mentioned in travel blogs as the city’s premier shopping and entertainment hub.
