About this place
History & highlights
Hubballi–Dharwad grew as twin towns: Dharwad with older educational and administrative roots; Hubballi as a commercial and railway hub. Chandramouleshwara Temple dates back to the Chalukya period (around 11th–12th centuries), marking the area’s much older sacred geography. Unkal Lake was later developed under municipal and regional planning to serve as both water source and recreation spot. Their history connects the ancient Chalukya heritage with the modern growth of Hubballi as a transport and trading city.
