Dehotsarg (Golokdham) Tirth

About this place

Dehotsarg (Golokdham) Tirth is located a short distance from Somnath along the Hiran River and marks the place where Krishna is believed to have left his mortal body and ascended to Golok. The peaceful riverside setting has shrines, ghats, a small cave-like spot associated with Krishna’s meditation, and temples such as the Shri Krishna Paduka mandir where stone footprints are worshipped. Pilgrims walk along tree-lined paths, perform simple rituals and sit quietly by the river. Compared with the busy Jyotirlinga temple, Dehotsarg feels intimate and meditative. For Ghoomein, it is perfect for storytelling content that completes the Krishna-leela arc in Saurashtra.

History & highlights

Dehotsarg’s significance comes from late Puranic and local traditions that place Krishna’s final departure near the Hiran River at Prabhas. Over centuries, small shrines and foot-print stones were installed to mark the exact spot. In modern times, the Somnath Trust and local devotees developed the site with ghats, paved paths and temple structures, branding it as Dehotsarg Tirth. It now forms a standard part of Somnath’s “Pancha Tirth” circuit along with Somnath Temple, Triveni Sangam, Bhalka Tirth and nearby associated shrines.
