About this place

South of the main temple lies Triveni Sangam, the holy confluence where the rivers Hiran, Kapila and the mythical Saraswati are believed to meet the Arabian Sea. Triveni Ghat, with its broad steps and shrines, is a key place for ritual baths, pind daan and evening aarti. The atmosphere is softer and more contemplative than the main temple: priests perform rites on the ghats while pilgrims sit watching the gentle water flow towards the sea. Simple temples and ashrams around the ghat make it easy to spend an hour here. For Ghoomein, this is ideal for “sunrise puja + river–sea confluence shots” and devotional reels.

History & highlights

Triveni at Prabhas has been mentioned in Puranic and later texts as the place where many sages performed penance, and also as the site connected to Krishna’s departure from earth. Over centuries, ghats and small temples were built and rebuilt along the riverbank. In the modern era, the area has been improved with steps, platforms and lights to accommodate growing pilgrim numbers. Tourism departments and the Somnath Trust highlight it as one of the essential stops in the Somnath circuit, especially during Kartik Purnima and major festivals.
