About this place
History & highlights
Umeshwaram Mahadev is quite new compared to ancient shrines around Haldwani. Local reports note that the current temple was formally inaugurated in January 2025 in memory of late Kamla Dalakoti and late Jagdish Chandra, and since then it has rapidly climbed up online rankings of Haldwani tourist sites. Built with modern materials, lighting and planned architecture, it was intentionally designed as a major Shiva centre inside the city, rather than on a distant hilltop. Within months, photo and video content on social platforms, along with word of mouth about “Umeshwaram Mahadev,” led to a surge of visitors. It is now officially recognised and promoted as a tourist-cum-pilgrimage spot of Haldwani, showing how contemporary temples can quickly become part of a city’s tourism identity.
